Boxship caused oil spill off Barcelona
The crew of the "Nele Maersk" on Sep 8, 2015, reported an accidental oil spill about 70 miles off Barcelona in the Mediterranean Sea. The accident happened enroute from Algericas to Genova during a routine transfer of the fuel from one tank to another. The Spanish authorities launched a cleaning operation, engaging a helicopter, a surveillance aircraft and anti-pollution vessels. The quantity of the spilt fuel was yet unknown.
