Ferry disabled by fouled propeller

Aug 25, 2019 12:49

The "Christine" had to be taken out of service on Aug 25 at 9.30 a.m. The ship's propulsion had been fouled by a rope in the propeller. This was especially a problem as the ferry "Femøsund", 337 gt (IMO: 9129782), has been sidelined in Bandholm due to a damaged auxiliary engine which has to be replaced, so there was only the ferry "Femø" left to serve the ports of Femø, Askø and Fejø. It was expected that the removal of the obstruction would take three hours.

Collision off Kragenæs

Feb 19, 2015 17:01

Lolland Færgefart was violently hit by a accident when the Fejø ferry "Christine" first suffered problems with the hydraulics due to a battery failure early in the morning of Feb 18, 2015. Later the "Femøsund" and the "Christine" were in collision at the entrance of the port of Kragenæs after the "Christine" returned into operation at 9 a.m. No one on board the two ferries were injured. The "Christine" sailed to Ærø in the night hours for repairs at the Assens Skipsværf AS repair yard in Marstal. She had suffered damage at the ramp. The "Femøsund" suffered only minor damage and was inserted on the Fejø-Kragenæs route. Only foot passengers were being able to get to and from Kragenæs with a motor boat to Vejrø which could only take 12 people at a time. Both the Danish Maritime Authority and the Maritime Accident Investigation Board started an investigation of the incident.

Ferry alllided with pole

Sep 22, 2014 11:08

In the early morning of Sep 22, 2014, the "Christine" lost power upon entry into the port on Fejø due to a lightning. With strong winds blowing and heavy rainfall, the ferry hit a massive pole in the harbor, next to the ferry landing. The "Fejø" was taken out of service until further notice. The ferry service to Femø and Asko was maintained by the "Askø" while the "Femøsund" temporarily took over the operation of the route to Fejø. The Lolland Ferry Service has not yet indicated how long the "Christine" was out of service.
