Propeller damage under repair in Hambantota
The 'Chitral' which had suffered propeller damage in the allision with the bulk carrier 'Jarwar Jahan' (IMO: 9233600) at the outer anchorage of Chittagong due to bad weather on Aug 24, and was towed by the tug 'De Tian' for dry docking in Hambantoa on Oct 23, was still under repair with no date when the repair would be completed.
Damaged bulker waiting for tug
After the allision with the bulk carrier 'Sarwar Jahan' (IMO: 9233600) at the outer anchorage of Chittagong Port amid bad weather on Aug 24, the vessel was still at the outer anchorage, waiting for a tug from Sri Lanka to arrive. Once the tug has arrived, it will tow the 'Chitral' for dry docking in Colombo, Sri Lanka. As of Oct 11, the 'Chitral' remained stationary in pos. 22° 09.44'22° 09.44' N 091° 46.81' E.
Ship to be surveyed after unloading operations
The 'Chitral' remained stationary at Chittagong Anchorage as of Sep 4, and an underwater survey was to be carried out after the cargo of 25000 tonnes of imported clinker has been unloaded at Chittagong Port instead of Mongla Port. Earlier, the chain entangled with the vessel's propeller had been removed.
