Medevac off Oahu
On Oct 8, 2025, the US Coast Guard medevaced the 44 year old master of the 'Chipol Donghai', 57 miles off Oahu, while the ship was enroute from Qidong to Andamos with an ETA as of Oct 30. The man was experiencing severe chest pains. The JRCC Honolulu had received an email on Oct 5 at around 11 p.m. from the vessel, while it was sailing approximately 1,500 miles north of Oahu. The watchstanders established regular communications with the vessel’s crew to monitor the patient's status as the 'Chipol Donghai' proceeded toward Oahu. As the man’s condition worsened, JRCC Honolulu watchstanders briefed the duty flight surgeon, who recommended a medevac. At 8:53 p.m. an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Barbers Point successfully hoisted and transported the man in stable condition to Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu.
