Rescued crew member repatriated

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), through the Philippine Embassy in Moscow, repatriated a Filipino crew member of the 'C Grace' who fell over board and was rescued by the tug 'Alatau' on Jan 26, after being adrift at the southern part of the South China Sea for almost two days. He was transported to Vladivostok for medical evaluation and temporary accommodation, without any identification documents, travel papers, or valid immigration status. The embassy coordinated with the Migrant Workers Office in Berlin and Russian authorities to ensure his safety and proper immigration processing, including the issuance of exit clearances and related documentation. He arrived in the Philippines on Feb. 13.

Tug rescued missing crew member

On Jan 26, the Russian Navy salvage tug 'Alatau' rescued a Philippine national who had gone over board from the 'C Grace' and had managed to stay afloat for days. The 'Alatau' picked up the survivor from the waters of the southern sector of the South China Sea. He had been floating and hoping for rescue for two days. After recovering him from the water, the crew of the 'Alatau' gave him a medical checkup and determined that he had a clean bill of health.   The 'Alatau' was under way towards Vladivostok, where it was to rejoin Russia's Pacific Fleet. The 'Alatau's crew planned to keep the survivor on board for the full voyage, at which point he will be offered an opportunity for repatriation.

The 'C Grace', enroute from Basrah to Singapore, reported one crew member missing, suspected to have gone overboard at Lat 06-00.0 N, Long 106-55.4 E on Jan 24. 2026, at midnight (4 p.m. GMT). All ships in the vicinity were asked to keep a good lookout and render assistance if necessary.

Medevac in Bermuda

The 'C Grace', en route from Singapore to Yum Kaknaab, Mexico, diverted to Bermuda to transfer a crew member suffering from a medical condition on Nov 18, 2022. At 1:10 a.m. the Bermuda Maritime Operations Centre received notification from the ship's management company, advising that the tanker was proceeding to Bermuda to transfer the crew member to a local Hospital Facility. It arrivedin Bermuda waters on Nov 21 at 3:00 p.m. The 33-year-old South Korean crew member was safely transferred to Ordnance Island by the pilot & rescue boat 'St David' and subsequently taken by ambulance to KEMH for medical treatment.
