Bulkcarrier too high for Kiel Canal
The transit of the "GH Rough Habit" through the Kiel Canal from Bremen to Ust-Luga on Dec 23, 2018, was denied as the ship was too high in the water to pass under the bridges. The ship had arrived in Brunsbüttel at 7.30 a.m. The ship took on ballast to increasethe draught, but finally it was decided that the mast will have to be shortened. The tugs "Wolf" and "Bugsier 15" turned the bulkcarrier around in the canal port of Brunsbüttel back into the locks at 3.45 p.m. and then entered the Elbe. The ship took the route round Skagen towards Ust-Luga, ETA Dec 27, 5 p.m.
