The sonar of the "Herøyhav" which was just underway for mackerel in the Norwegian Sea, was destroyed in the collision with a sperm whale leaving it completely useless. During a diving survey it was found out that the robust sonar was curved to the aside. The master believed it was an adult male which can be 16 meters long and have a weight of 45 tons.
