The electrical problems, which had led to a blackout, causing most of the ship's electrical systems to fail. aboard the 'Celebrity Infintiy' in the early morning hours of Feb 15 near the port of Piraeus, were to be resolved soon. A test cruise in the Mediterranean took place on Feb 23, and all went well. Celebrity Cruises has informed guests of the cruise scheduled to depart on Feb 27 that it would proceed as planned. The Greek Coast Guard had cited a defect in the electrical distribution boxes to be the reason behind the outage. The 'Celebrity Infinity' was slated to resume operations only after receiving approval from the classification society. The first voyage after the incident will be a ten-day cruise through the Eastern Mediterranean, calling at ports in Greece and Turkey.

The 'Celebrity Infinity' suffered a power outage enroute from Barcelona to Piraeus on the early morning of Feb 15, 2026. She was on a 13-day, one way sailing that had departed Barcelona on Feb 3 and was set to end in Piraeus-Athens on Feb 16. The vessel drifted off Piträus or a time before tugs arrived to assist. At around 3:00 a.m., the lights went out across the entire ship, and systems from the air conditioning and toilet flushing to the Wi-Fi failed. The sound of the alarm code "Bravo, Bravo, Bravo," typically used in the event of fires or serious emergencies was broadcast over the ship's loudspeakers. Since the ship could not restart its propulsion under its own power, four tugs were called to assist and managed to tow the ship to the port of Piraeus. The JRCC of the Greek Coast Guard informed the Port Authorities of Piraeus and Keratsini of "the loss of control of the cruise ship due to a malfunction in the electrical panels. Upon the arrival, the disembarkation proved to be a lengthy process due to ongoing energy problems. Passengers, who had planned to remain aobard for onward traavel, were subjected to a ship without operating electricity until Feb 16 at 5 p.m. There was no air conditioning and no real food, but toilets and running water, but no emergency lights on in the staterooms, making the interior cabins hard to navigate, The passengers had to wait for people to return from excursions before Celebrity then bussed them to hotel accommodations.. There was also no internet available, making it difficult to book hotel accommodations. Celebrity Cruises informed newly arriving guests that the cruise scheduled for Feb 16 was cancelled without replacement. The experts required additional time for inspections and repairs. All affected passengers received a full refund of the cruise fare, including all pre-paid extras (shore excursions, beverage packages, etc.). and a future cruise credit worth 100%” of cruise fare, a reimbursement for two nights of hotel accommodations and up to $200 for domestic and $400 for international flights.The refund was automatically issued to the original payment method. Technical teams started investigating whether the blackout was caused by a defect in the engine room, problems with the power distribution system, or a generator failure. The 1st Port Department of the Central Port Authority of Piraeus banned the ship from sailing until a certificate of damage repair has been presented. It remained stationary in port as of Feb 20.

The 'Celebrity Infinity' suffered an electrical fire, which led to a total blackout onboard, leaving the ship unable to proceed to Mykonos. After being stuck in Kuşadası for two days, the remainder of the ports on the 7-night cruise have been unexpectedly canceled. The ship was expected to sail around 8:00 p.m. LT on July 9. However, the ongoing technical issues couldn't be resolved in time. The 'Celebrity Infinity' will remain docked in Kuşadası through July 11 at 3:00P p.m. and then return to Athens,, for debarkation as originally planned on July 11. The original itinerary had them sailing from Turkey to Mykonos; Kavala, and Thessaloniki,. Although Kavala had been removed from the itinerary due to the lengthened stay in Kuşadası, guests were still hopeful that they'd call at Mykonos and Thessaloniki. To make up for the shortened experience, Celebrity Cruises offered compensation across two forms. All guests received a refundable onboard credit worth 50% of their cruise fare. Any unused portion will be returned to the original form of payment after the cruise. In addition, a Future Cruise Credit (FCC) equal to 50% of the fare paid will be issued for use on any Celebrity Cruises sailing departing within the next 12 months. Shore excursions booked for Mykonos and Thessaloniki were automatically cancelled and fully refunded. Celebrity offered alternatives while the ship remained docked, such as curated tours for July 10, going beyond Kusadasi and Ephesus. The 'Celebrity Infinity' was due to return to Athens as scheduled on July 12, indicating that the ship remained operational and seaworthy, even if some comfort-related issues persisted such as problems with air conditioning, power outages in some staterooms, and meal service delays.

On Jan 15, 2025, the crew of the SAR boat 'Guardamar Concepción Arenal' (IMO: 9541655) medevaced a passenger with health problems from the 'Celebrity Infinity', en route from Barcelona to Arrecife, off Garrucha. The CCS Almeria of Salvamento Marítimo coordinated the operation. The affected person and his companion were transferred to the port of Garrucha, where the patient was further attended by medical services. On July 18, 2023, while the 'Celebrity Infinity' was docked at Port Kerkyra, Corfu Island, a 48-year-old male refrigerant assistant, who was performing maintenance on equipment, accidentally hurt a right-hand finger. Upon receiving the information, the Corfu Port Authority activated standard safety protocols, and the injured man was swiftly taken to a local private clinic for the medical treatment. At the time of the incident, 'Celebrity Infinity' was in the midst of a 7-night "Greece & Croatia" voyage. After the necessary medical assistance, the ship continued with the planned itinerary. The Greek authorities have started a preliminary investigation into the incident, led by the Corfu Port Authority.

The 'Celebrity Infinity' with around 1450 stranded Goan seafarers arrived at the MPT cruise terminal in Mumbai on June 18. Swab samples of the seafarerswere taken and tested for COVID and based on the outcome of the results further action will be initiated as per the SOP. The seafarers who arrived today were stranded in Mumbai for some days. Prior to the arrival at Mumbai the ship had visited Greece and Cyprus. The Directorate of Health team and medical experts visited the cruise ship.I was hoped to complete the collection of swab samples in the evening or on June 19. Due to rough weather conditions and heavy rainfall not much could be done in the first half of the day, besides the ship was delayed by almost two hours. After the collection of samples is done the seafarers will go back on the ship and will stay there until the swab test results are declared. If the test results are COVID positive then action will be initiated as per the SOP and if results are negative then they will be sent home.
