Tanker suffered engine failure in Bosphorus
On Dec 15, 2021, the Bosphorus had to be closed to two-way transit ships due to an engine failure of the 'Ahmet Telli' in Keçili Bay. The tanker had departed from Constanta on Dec 14 and entered the Bosphorus headed to the port of Izmit. The captain requested assistance from the General Directorate of Coastal Safety which deployed the tugs 'Kurtarma-10', 'Kurtarma-7' and the lifeboat 'KEGM-5' as well as a pilot to the scene. The ship was taken in tow to Ahırkapı. The Bosphorus was opened to ship traffic approximately 1,5 hours later.
