The 'Carnival Spirit' collided with a small piece of ice sailing through the Tracy Arm Fjord, home to the twin Sawyer Glaciers, on a 7-night cruise in Alaska on Sep 5, 2024. The impact caused minimal damage. The crew conducted a thorough inspection to assess for any potential damage and ensure the safety of all passengers. The piece of ice, smaller than a growler or large iceberg, hit the starboard side of the vessel. After crew members had completed their inspection with a small boat, the ship was cleared to resume the sailing and continued to Skagway. The vessel arrived in Juneau on Sep 7, before heading head to Ketchikan and Victoria, British Columbia, and returning to Seattle. Helicopters rescued four ill passengers from three cruise ships at sea off the California coast within 24 hours. The series began on April 28, 2023, at about 7 p.m., when the 'Carnival Panorama' requested assistance. A Coast Guard helicopter airlifted a 47-year-old woman with a progressive acute illness from the ship about 100 miles south of San Diego. At 10:20 p.m., the 'Majestic Princess' requested help with two passengers needing medical assistance about 500 miles west of Los Angeles. A Coast Guard helicopter met the ship on April 29 at about 10 a.m. closer to shore to pick up a 74-year-old woman with symptoms of a stroke and a 77-year-old woman with kidney failure. At 12:20 p.m. that day, the 'Carnival Spirit' radioed for help with an 84-year-old woman possibly suffering a stroke about 86 miles from San Clemente Island. The helicopter completing the evacuation of the two women from the 'Majestic Princess' was sent to pick up that patient as well. The crew flew for more than seven hours that day.

The 'Carnival Spirit' rescued a group of 24 migrants who were stranded in a small boat in the Caribbean Sea on April 11, 2023. The cruise ship was sailing towards Aruba, near the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico, when the distressed boat was spotted. The castaways were transferred aboard, checked by the ship’s medical personnel and found to be in good condition. The ship’s officers contacted Coastguard officials from Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic to co-ordinate the transfer onto a vessel of the Coastguard which arrived on the scene at 3 p.m. LT near La Romana in the Dominican Republic, enabling the 'Carnival Spirit' to resume its voyage. The vessel had no scheduled stops on that day, and its call to Aruba went ahead as scheduled. The ship left Miami on a week long cruise April 8 and will return on April 15.
