The Carnival Panorama' tilted heavily after hitting a major thunderstorm off the coast of Mazatlán, which swept through the Gulf of California on Aug 20, 2025 at 8.15 p.m. PDT, on the third night of its 7-day Mexican Riviera itinerary. In the dining area, broken plates was scattered across the floor. water was dripping from ceilings and elevators, in which some people were stuck. Water entered the main lobby and some elevator banks, rendering some elevators inoperable. It was reaching several inches above balcony sliding doors and shattered glass at an outside bar. The 'Carnival Panorama' was located between Mazatlan and La Paz. She had departed Los Angeles on Aug 16t with a stop in Mazatlan on Aug 20. The tilting of the ship occurred as the ship was sailing towards its next scheduled port of call, La Paz. The ship stabilized, as the captain maneuvered it to calmer seas, the crew quickly turned their attention to assisting guests, and things were cleaned up quickly. Nine passengers were seen at the ship’s medical facility. There were no serious injuries, and all were stable, but two guests were referred to the hospital for additional evaluation when the ship arrived in La Pazon Aug 21. Most elevators were back in operation, with the exception of a few that were still undergoing repairs and all other systems and features of the ship were functioning. A medical emergency occurred aboard the 'Carnival Panorama' just as the ship was concluding a 7-night Mexican Riviera itinerary. The ship had departed Long Beach, California on Nov 23 and it was on the last day of the cruise when a medical evacuation was requested. Guests onboard the n ship have noted that a call for blood donors had been made late the evening before. It was unknown whether the two medical incidents on the 'Carnival Panorama' were related.

When the 'Carnival Panorama' called at Manila on Oct 18, 2024 during her one-way post-dry-dock sailing from Singapore back to her southern California homeport of Long Beach, it became apparent that one of the two pier gangways available for the ship to use for guests was unsafe, showing signs of corrosion and decay. This left just a single gangway for the more than 4,000 travelers to use in order to explore the port. Multiple guests onboard reached out to Carnival Cruise Line’s Brand Ambassador, John Heald, to express their frustration at the long lines and disembarkation delays. Some passengers noted waiting to debark the ship for three hours or longer due to the gangway issues, with some of the crowded stairs and hallways being uncomfortably warm at the same time. Heald responded to explain the situation in the hopes of alleviating some frustration, and urged travelers not to take their disappointment out on the ship’s crew members. The ship was able to request a second gangway, which was delivered and made available later in the day as guests were returning to the ship. This permitted faster embarkation and fewer delays, and the 'Carnival Panorama' was able to depart as planned.The ship’s transpacific cruise was continued with the next stop being Guam, then Honolulu, before she will arrive in California on Nov 5.

Helicopters rescued four ill passengers from three cruise ships at sea off the California coast within 24 hours. The series began on April 28, 2023, at about 7 p.m., when the 'Carnival Panorama' requested assistance. A Coast Guard helicopter airlifted a 47-year-old woman with a progressive acute illness from the ship about 100 miles south of San Diego. At 10:20 p.m., the 'Majestic Princess' requested help with two passengers needing medical assistance about 500 miles west of Los Angeles. A Coast Guard helicopter met the ship on April 29 at about 10 a.m. closer to shore to pick up a 74-year-old woman with symptoms of a stroke and a 77-year-old woman with kidney failure. At 12:20 p.m. that day, the 'Carnival Spirit' radioed for help with an 84-year-old woman possibly suffering a stroke about 86 miles from San Clemente Island. The helicopter completing the evacuation of the two women from the 'Majestic Princess' was sent to pick up that patient as well. The crew flew for more than seven hours that day.
