The 'Carnival Celebration', which was set to depart from Miami on March 30, 2025, at 4 p.m. EST, had the departure delayed by roughly 30 minutes due to a rain storm, the vessel was continuously hit by the storm while exiting the port, causing extensive flooding on upper decks. It was raining so hard that water from decks 17 and 18 were flooding down into the pool area on deck 16. Supervisors were on all the decks as the rain was coming inside. At deck 18 they had to block doorways with piles of towels to stop water from coming into the elevator lobby. The internet was fully shut down on the ship as lightnings continued to strike close by. The crew tried to step in to help by attempting to sweep the excess water out of the guests way, but considering the rate of the rainfall this was largely unsuccessful. So far, no injuries or major damages have been reported. The weather has cleared up and the ship continued sailing to its first stop in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic, as planned with calls at San Juan, Puerto and St. Thomas, before returning to Miami on April 6. On Feb 24, 2024, the 'Carnival Celebration', en route to Miami, rescued a number of migrants 20 miles north of Cuba. The homemade boat was in precarious conditions with about 20 Cubans aboard. They were removing water from the boat with buckets to prevent the rustic vessel from collapsing. The Coast Guard sent a speedboat to the scene. The process to follow was to return the irregular migrants to Cuba. The 'Carnival Celebration' on March 24, 2023, encountered a crowded row boat while sailing northeast of Cozumel. The incident occurred at approximately 6 p.m. ship time, when the small craft was sighted with at least 12 occupants, both male and female. The cruise ship immediately diverted to offer assistance, prepared to take the people from the small craft aboard if necessary. The small boat was using multiple oars for propulsion and steering, but was not otherwise signaling for emergency aid. While constructed in part of varying materials, including duct tape, the craft seemed reasonably stable. The 'Carnival Celebration' pulled up alongside and communicated with the craft, and while the occupants stated they did not want to be rescued, they did accept food and water. Everyone was observed to be alert and in good health, and the boat – while small and crowded – was not in immediate danger. The Carnival’s shoreside team and the United States Coast Guard were both contacted about the encounter. The cruise ship remained alongside the small craft until clarification of next steps was received, at which time the ship was released to continue on its sailing.
