Nine workers injured in explosion
A fire broke out following an explosion in a void tank at the bottom of the pump room of the 'Legend', where shipyard workers were welding the hull, at the Dung Quat Shipyard (DQS) in the Quang Ngai Province, on Nov 3, 2023, at 1.25p.m. LT. Nine workers were burned in the carbon dioxide gas cylinder explosion. A leak oil pipe in the void tank was blamed. The injured were taken to the Quang Nam Central General Hospital in the Quang Nam Province at 2.15 p.m. After being triaged, four were confirmed to have suffered severe burns to over 30 % of their bodies, while the remaining five were burned at lower levels.
