Medevac off Terschelling
On May 22, 2013, at 04.15 a.m. the Coastguard Center in Den Helder was notfified that a crew member aboard the "Kurkse" had fallen from a staircase and was need of medical help. The ship was dabout 20 km north of Terschelling enroute from Emden to Flushing at that time. The Coastguard made a conference call with the ship and the KNRM and a medevac was decided. A military helicopter with a doctor on board was dispatched from Leeuwarden and headed for the "Kurkse" to hoist the patient and take him to the medical center Leeuwarden.
