Anilin leaked from tanker in Brunsbüttel
On Jan 22, 2026, at around 2 p.m., a toxic substance leaked from the 'Capewater' into the water of the port of Brunsbüttel. Between 100 and 1,000 liters of the aniline leaked during the incident, most of the substance remained on the deck of the tanker, and only a small amount entered the Kiel Canal. No one was injured. The fire department responded to the incident. The ship had arrived in Brunsbüttel enroute from Antwerp short past 6 a.m.
