The sheerleg "Samson" raised the "B.G. Stone 1" in the afternoon of Oct 23 at Tørresø in the Kattegat from a water depth of up to 15 metres. The salvage operation took place without incident and without leakage of oil. The ship was next to be transported to the Fayard shipyard at Lindø. Wreck at Fyens Hoved to be removed
The wreck of the "B.G. Stone 1" which is lying on its side off Tørresø Beach near Fyens Hoved, is to be removed. The Søværnets Operative Kommando is about to finalize a plan for the salvage. The wreck is lying in shallow water so that the starboard bow was still sticking out of the water. The cause of the sinking was not yet resolved, but obviously the cargo became unbalanced. There could have been an issue with the ballast water tanks, but this has to be investigated further by technicians once the wreck is raised. Spilt diesel fuel could be contained with oil booms immediately after the sinking. Dredger sank in Kattegat

The Marine Guard has placed booms around the wreck. The dredger suddenly began to tilt aroudn 5 p.m. probably due to a cargo shift. The helicopter was alarmed and immediately headed for the position of the capsized ship, which was eight miles away. The Navy vessel "MHV 910" of the Flotilla 137 in Aabenraa and its 10-man crew were on scene within 45 minutes. The patrol boat recovered the empty life raft.
