CALETA ANAHUAC 8401157
Four seafarers from the coaster Danica White has lost a piracy court case. The men sought compensation for the 83 days they were held hostage by Somali pirates in 2007. The four seamen and their union 3Fβs Transport Group brought the case to the court Γstre Landsret to seek compensation from Rederiet H. Folmer, the owner of the Danish White. However, the court ruled against the seafarers. The owner could not be held responsible for the hijacking and the following hostage situation, according to the court. One of the four crew members died earlier this year. Danica White was seized by Somali pirates on June 1, 2007, and was released on August 22 the same year after a ransom was paid out.
