Buena-Suerte

Pirates boarded the "Buena Suerte" next to Singapore already in early May. An engineer had discovered six men armed with knives in the engine room. They forced him to show the way out of the engine room, after which he could raise alarm. The pirates fled without having stolen anything, and there were no reports of injured persons. The attack on the "Buena Suerte" was one of six pirate attacks reported in Asia in May 2017, which was almost 50 % less compared with the previous year. During the first five months of this year, the number of pirate attacks in the region has declined by 31 % due to improvements in ports and anchorages in India, Vietnam and Indonesia. At the same time there has been an increase in the number of attacks off the coast of Somalia.
