Detention in Ghent

On Feb 3, 2026, the "Bristol" was detained in the Port of Ghent. It had arrived enroute from Cotonou on Feb 1. The vessel was moored at the quay of the Grand Dock on Feb 4, where it remained stationary as of Feb 13. The detention followed a Port State Control. The inspection was suspended, which means that the inspectors from the Federal Public Service Mobility and Transport (FPS) have identified multiple violations in various areas and conventions. The vessel can only be released after PSC inspectorshave confirmed that the defiencies were remedied and the ship was safe to sail.

In the afternoon of Aug 12, the m/v 'E.R. Bristol', en route from Oran To Gibraltar, sighted a drifting patera seven nautical miles away from Mesa Roldán. The MRCC of Salvamento Marítimo in Almería asked the ship to escort the boat and mobilized the 'Salvamar Spica', who rescues the 16 people who were on board, and transferred them to Almería.
