Collision in Aegean Sea
The "Angel Alia" and the "Ameland" collided in the morning Apr 5, 2014, 19 miles NW of Lesbos off the northwestern tip of the island. The unloaded "Angel Alia" hit the "Ameland" at portside, both vessels suffered hull breaches and dents above the waterline at starboard side, but remained capable of sailing. The Greek Coastguard permitted both vessels to resume their voyages. The "Angel Alia" which was coming from Casablanca and headed towards the Black Sea moored at Tuzla anchorage, on Apr 6 morning. The "Ameland" was en route from Istanbul to Lorient. Both the 17 Syrian crew members aboard the "Ameland" as the ship with a crew of 16 Syrians as well as the 11 Russians abaord the "Angel Alia" were not injured.
