In the afternoon of April 15, 2022, Greenpeace held a peaceful protest in the waters off Syracuse to obstruct the arrival of the 'SCF Baltica' with a cargo of 110.000 tons crude oil. BLRT Grupp's Turku Repair Yard has finished the repair of oil tanker SCF Baltica. The specialists of ship-repair yard have dismantled machined, assembled back and balanced the shaft line and propeller (weight 35 tons) of the vessel. Also, main propulsion unit (B&W 7S60ME-C 16660 KW, 105 rpm, weight approximately 500 tons) was again aligned with shaft line, using Chockfast orange, the Company press release said. Specialists of Turku Repair Yard have done similar vessel repair works before. Among others SCF Baltica was the first tanker of Aframax size. The tanker SCF Baltica is operated by Russian company Sovkomflot, which is world’s second largest operator of Aframax size vessels.
