The employees’ DIS contracts will be terminated and replaced by new, NOR contracts. The union stated that the transfer of four anchor handling tug and supply vessels, Loke Viking, Njord Viking, Magne Viking, and Brage Viking, will happen during the first quarter of 2017.The shipping company’s aim is to optimize the overall shipping operations by bringing together major parts of the fleet under the Norwegian flag to meet the increasingly strong competition in the offshore market The Danish Metals & Maritime Department (DMMA) set up a meeting with the respective Norwegian trade unions and the company for January 5, 2017. Viking Supply loses big contract

Dec 09, 2014 09:59

Viking Supply Ships has had a contract for three AHTS vessels, which previously were signed with a major oil company, terminated. The contract was for the drilling seasons 2014 and 2015, with an option to extend for the seasons 2016 and 2017. Since the oil company has dropped drilling in the 2015 season, Viking Supply Ships received early termination of contracts for AHTS vessel BRAGE VIKING , MAGNE VIKING and BALDER VIKING. The termination applies to drilling in season 2015 and the remaining option periods in the contract. Viking Supply is currently considering several alternative contract options for the vessels in the environment with harsh weather conditions, since the ships are now available unlike before the termination.Viking Supply Ships are entitled to compensation for the early termination.Source: Rederi AB TransAtlantic / Viking Supply Ships / Maritime Denmark
