Bourbon-Explorer-502

The "Bourbon Explorer 502", being under way in position 03 52 48 N, long 007 04 50 E 20 miles SSW of Bonny Island, was embarked, chased and fired upon by 16 armed pirates in two speed boats, on Feb 28, 2019,at 08.15 a.m. The alarm was raised, the vessel increased speed, initiated anti-piracy evasive manoeuvres and non-essential crew mustered in the citadel. The escorting security vessel intervened to repel the pirate attack. As a result of the attack, the supply vessel sustained bullet damage to the bridge. All the crew members were reported safe and a Nigerian Navy vessel escorted the vessel to a safe port.
