Ferry suffered technical issue
The 'Bømlafjord', serving on the route Langevåg-Buavåg, suffered technical problems on the morning of Feb 27, 2025. As a consequence, the scheduled departures from Langevåg at 05:45 a.m. and from Buavåg at 06:15 a.m. had to be cancelled. The oeprator Fjord1 then stated that the ferry service remained suspended until further notice. The ferry remained sidelined in Buavåg for repairs.
Ferry assisted fisherman
A 31-foot fishing vessel took in water in the Bømlafjorden in Vestland with one person on board on June 14, 2024, at 5 p.m. and asked for assistance. An ambulance boat and a boat from the defense which was nearby were sent to tthe scene. The first ship on site was the 'Bømlafjord', which launched its MOB. It reached the casualty just before 5.30 p.m. The skipper has left the boat, and had boarded a smaller dinghy. He was then taken aboard the ambulance boat 'Rosedoktoren'.
Ferry grounded off Buavåg
The 'Bømlafjord' serving the route Langevåg-Buavåg ran aground enroute to Buavåg on March 29, 2020 at 10 p.m. There were seven people on board the ship. The South-West police district in Stavanger and the Chief Investigation Center for Southern Norway (HRS) were notified. The ferry was stuck 300 meters from the dock in Buavåg. The well boat 'Ronja Sund' and the fishing vessel 'Mir' were assisting the ship. Around 11:30 p.m. the 'Ronjasund' established a towing connection and pulled the ship back to the deeper waters of the fjord. During the night she was towed to Langevåg. The NSSR-lifeboat 'Resque Sundt' from the station Leirvik was also deployed to the site. The fire boat from Leirvik was alerted to take care of any oil spills. The ferry proceeded from Langevåg to Høylandsbygd on March 30 and berthed at the Halsnøy Dokk A/S on March 31 at 1.50 a.m. for investigations and repairs.
