Situation of grounded bulker being assessed
The condition of the 'Blue Shark' was currently being assessed as normal and there were no holes in the hull. The 21 crew members, , citizens of Syria, India and Egypt, have been taken ashore, waiting for towing, but it was unknown when the assistance will arrive. Under the vessel, there is solid sand. Divers will need some time to examine the bottom and understand the scale of the work. The owner of the 'Blue Shark' has not yet shown up and made a request for work. Meanwhile, enterprising residents of Anapa are making money by organizing excursions to the ship, which was stuck in pos. 44 59 00 N, 037 14 18 E, at Vityazevo Anapa, about 9,7 nautical miles from Anapa. Grounding near Vityazevo
The 'Blue Shark', en route from the MMK Metalurji in Iskenderun to Taman, ran aground near the local resort village of Vityazevo, 440 metres from the coast due to problems with the engine amid hurricane-force winds and 30-foot waves, which broke the vessel from its anchors on Nov 25, 2023, at 11 a.m. It drifted towards the coast until it got stuck in pos. 44° 59.00 N 037° 14.48' E on Nov 26 at 1 a.m. The ship had been loading barley for Egypt in the seaport of Taman in the KLrasnodar Territory and moved to anchorage upon receiving a storm warning. The vessel may only be refloated after weather conditions have improved, though there seemed to be no tugs available for such operations in the region. The crew remained on board for the time being.
