On March 20, 2019, short past midnight the "Bulk Trans" suffered water ingress and an engine failure off the Edøy ferry quay in Smøla. The pilot boat "Los 133" hooked up a towing line and kept the ship from running aground. On July 4, 2015, at 6.38 a.m. the "Bjugnholm", coming from Roervik, ran aground on an unmarked reef at Skeishavna in Leka, north of Madsøya, with a crew of six on board.
