Crew member died after falling over board
The Police in Northern Ireland was investigating the death of a crew member who fell overboard from the 'BG Ruby' in Belfast on Feb 20, 2023. Emergency medical teams were dispatched to Belfast Harbour’s Victoria Terminal 3 upon receiving a call for assistance shortly after the man fell into the water at around 11 p.m. LT. He was recovered and brought to hospital the same evening but was later pronounced deceased. Inspectors of the UK Marine Accident Investigation Branch (MAIB) were sent to Belfast to conduct a preliminary assessment. The MAIB’s counterpart agency in Portugal has been advised about the mishap. The ship left the port again on Feb 22 en route to Rotterdam with an ETA as of Feb 24.
