Technical trouble off Pendeen LH
The 'BG Emerald', en route from Rotterdam to Cork with 15 crew members on board, was adrift at a speed of 2.5 knots 13 miles northwest of Pendeen Lighthouse in position 50 20.13 N, 005 55.39 W, on Jan 29, 2020, at 4 a.m. due to an issue with the high-pressure fuel pipe. The estimated repair time was about two hours. In the afternoon the vessel was required by the Coastguard to stop every 60 to 90 minutes to check and tighten the repair work, and then get underway with speeds up to approximately 15 knots. After the defect was rectified the ship continued its voyage only at 11.30 p.m. The ship finally arrived in Cork on Jan 30 at 9.30 a.m.
