Lighterage vessel sinks on outer anchorage of Chittagong
CHITTAGONG, January 13: A lightering vessel sank in the Bay at the outer anchorage of Chittagong Port in the morning but there was no disruption in ships' movement, officials said. MV Chisti Shohag sank at Alpha anchorage while offloading steel coil from MV Ipanema a foreign flag mother vessel at around 10 am. All 14 members of the crew of the ship, were safe, sources said. Deputy Conservator of the port authority Captain Nazmul Alam said the cause of sinking of the lighter vessel could not be immediately ascertained.
