Bulk carrier boarded by armed perpetrators
On July 16, 2021, at 44.15 p.m. the officer on watch of the 'Star Nike' noticed a suspicious boat near the ship and notified the Master who instructed the crew check and secure the accommodation. The vessel was under way in the Singapore Strait in position 001 16 01.2N, 104 12 23.4E. The engine room crew reported five robbers armed with knives outside the steering gear compartment. The alarm was raised resulting in the robbers escaping without stealing anything. The incident was reported to the Singapore authorities.
