After the tank barge "Somtrans XXV" had refloated the grounded "Somtrans XXVI" at river km 711 on the Rhine at Dormagen, the ship was pulled to the other river side.It was moored at the height of gate 10 of the Chempark in Dormagen, where it had loaded a cargo of 1.800 tons prior to the grounding on Aug 3 at 4.45 a.m. Only when the damaged bow thruster has been repaired, the ship could continue its voyage to the Netherlands. On Aug 3, 2018, at 10.30 a.m. the "Somtrans XXVI", 8001,38 ts (EU-No.: 02333653), ran aground on the Rhine between Colonia and Dormagen on the right river shore. The ship had taken on a cargo EC Blend at the quay of the chemical company INEOS and was bound to Amsterdam. At 11:20 a.m. the barge could be refloated ans was berthed in Dormagen for investigations and surveys. The accident happened during the turning manoever, during which the ship ran onto a gravel bar 40 meters from the shore due to the low water level of the river.
