Allision in Brunsbüttel
On March 9, 2026, at 3:00 p.m., the newly built "Vega Clara", enroute from Santander to Gdynia, allided with four mooring dolphins on the lock island diagonally opposite Pier 1, while entering the foreport of the old lock of the Kiel Canal in Brunsbüttel. The vessel was approaching the old northern lock on its maiden voyage through the canal. No damage to the ship was reported. The vessel was held inside the lock and was temporarily prohibited from proceeding. At 4:30 PMp.m.the ship was permitted to continue its eastbound canal transit with an ETA at the port of destination as of March 11.
