153 people suffered from norovirus
A highly contagious norovirus outbreak occurred on the "Star Princess" during a Caribbean cruise. As the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announced on March 12, 2026, a total of 104 passengers and 49 crew members fell ill. There were approximately 5,800 people on board the vessel. Those affected primarily complained of diarrhea and vomiting.The norovirus was identified as the causative agent. As a result, the crew intensified cleaning of the decks. Sick passengers and crew members were isolated. The "Star Princess" has been on a seven-day voyage to the western Caribbean and Mexico since March 7 and was expected back in the port of Florida on March 14.
