On March, 25, 2020, at 4.30 p.m. the 'CAP Diamant' reported a suspicious approach by a speedboat in the Gulf of Guinea. The attempt was stopped when the security vessel escorting the tanker increased speed to close the gap. The 'Cap Diamant' was in position 02 27 00N, 004 01 00E, northwest of Sao Tome when the suspect black speed boat was closing in at 20 knots. It stopped its approach when the security vessel escorting the tanker increased its speed and reached near the tanker. The speed boat was then seen moving away and leaving the area. The crew members and the tanker were safe.
