Second rescue within one week
For the second time within a week the "Howe Sound Queen" rescued people from a boat run aground. On Mar 9 at about 4: 45 p.m. the ferry was about halfway from Crofton to its Vesuvius terminal on Saltspring Island when crew members observed a 27 foot Catalina that had run aground. The ferry launched a rescue boat with two crew members, which then sped to the leaning vessel. The crew members rescued the two people who were on the sail boat, and took them to Crofton. Due to the falling tide, the vessel was left on the rocks and the ferry crew notified the Coastguard about it. The rescue operation caused the ferry to be delayed by about 30 minutes. Much of the time was made up on later evening runs.
