Crew member died after falling over board
The Us Coast Guard was conducting a marine casualty investigation following a death of a crew member aboard the 'Aleutian Lady' near Dutch Harbor on Feb 25, 2026. Watchstanders at the U.S. Coast Guard Arctic District Command Center in Juneau received a report at 5:05 p.m. from Captain Rick Shelford, that the deckhand Todd Meadows, 25, fell overboard approximately 170 miles north of Dutch Harbor, off Alaska's Aleutian Islands. Todd was the newest member of the crew. The man was recovered unresponsive by the crew approximately ten minutes later. First aid and attempts to resuscitate Mr. Meadows were unsuccessful. The crab fisher transported the deceased to Dutch Harbor, arriving in port on the morning of Feb 26.
