Margarita-Salas

On the evening of Nov 20, 2025,, a 67-year-old man died on Menorca, a neighbouring island of Mallorca, after his car plunged into the water following his disembarkation from the ' Margarita Salas' at the port of Ciutadella. The man had been traveling on the Baleària ferry between Alcúdia and Barcelona. He had disembarked at the west quayside and was in the queue at the Son Blanc exit. He then found himself in the harbour basin of the east quayside with his car. As soon as they noticed the incident, several crew members from the ferry company jumped into the water to help the victim while emergency services were alerted, but they were unable to carry out the rescue in time. After the body was brought to the quay and resuscitation attempts were made for approximately 45 minutes, the man's death was confirmed. Firefighters and ambulances from the SAMU 061 rescue service were involved in the operation.
