Kalbajar

The 'Kalbajar' with 14 crew members on board, and the 'Alatepe' (IMO: 9104873) with 17 crew members on board, were in allision in the Floria area near the anchorage of Küçükmede in the Sea of Marmara near Istanbul on Dec 30, 2025. The tankers came into contact while they were anchored and sent distress signals. Rescue teams and the tug 'Kurtarma 9' (IMO: 9598581) were urgently dispatched to the scene. Istanbul authorities had previously issued a storm warning due to strong winds in the Sea of Marmara. The 'Kalbajar' anchored in pos. 40° 57' N 028° 45' E, the 'Alatepe' in pos. 40° 58' N 028° 47' E. So far, no injuries or marine pollution have been reported, while the relevant authorities continued to monitor the situation and investigate the circumstances under which the incident occurred. The 'Kalbajar' could be secured, and salvage efforts for the grounded Alatepe were to begin after the severe weather conditions have improved and divers conducted an underwater inspection.
