Search operation for MH 370 flight yielded no results

Mar 09, 2026 11:36

The new search for the wreckage of the missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 has yielded no results, according to Malaysian authorities. The 'Armada 86 05' ended its search operation already on Jan 23, 2026. On Jan 28 it arrived in Kwinana and left the port on Jan 29 en route to Pagp Pago with an ETA as of Feb 25. Nearly 12 years after the disappearance of the Boeing 777, the case remains one of the greatest mysteries in civil aviation. On March 8, 2014, the aircraft, a Boeing 777, disappeared from radar. Shortly before, it had taken off from Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia, bound for the Chinese capital Beijing. The plane never arrived, and there is still no trace of the 239 passengers. The plane is believed to have crashed in the Indian Ocean, but the wreckage has never been found. Several attempts have been made to find remains, but each time without success. At the end of Dec 2025, the American-British company Ocean Infinity launched a new search using autonomous underwater drones. The Malaysian government promised the company $70 million (€60.2 million) if the wreck was found. However, the new search again yielded no results.

Offshore ship reached search area

Dec 30, 2025 23:22

Late on Dec 30, the 'Armada 86 05' has reached the new designated search area in the southern Indian Ocean after a brief stopover in Fremantle and completing necessary refuelling. It has arrived in the southern-most point of the targeted search zone. This positions it in the Blelly-Marchand area, the possible location of the aircraft. This marked the official resumption of the renewed search for the Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370, which vanished on March 8, 2014, with 239 passengers and crew on board. The Malaysian government, in partnership with the UK- and US-based marine robotics company Ocean Infinity, confirmed the vessel’s arrival through ongoing monitoring. Operations were now commencing in a refined 5,800 square mile zone. This shifts the search to an area just beyond the “7th arc” – the final satellite ping location. This region has been broadly identified as having the highest probability of containing the Boeing 777 wreckage. It incorporates the latest analyses of satellite data, ocean drift modelling of confirmed debris, and lessons from previous searches. The 'Armada 86 05' will deploy a fleet of autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs), ccapable of operating at depths up to 6,000 metres. The search has been planned to run intermittently over approximately 55 days, weather permitting. It operates under a “no find, no fee” agreement worth up to $70 million, payable only if substantial wreckage is located and verified.t chance yet to solve the enduring enigma of MH370.Official updates will be provided by the Malaysian government as the search progresses. The world watches once more, hoping for discovery and closure.

New search for MH 370

Dec 26, 2025 18:46

The 'Armada 86 05' of the U.S.-based marine exploration firm Ocean Infinity has confirmed it is resuming the search for Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 with the backing of the Malaysian government The search is carried out with the support of the Malaysian government. Due to the sensitive nature of the operation, all official updates on the search will be issued by the Malaysian authorities. The 'Armada 86 05' departed from its anchorage near the port of Kwinana on Dec 23, 2025, and was heading towards waters where previous searches for the missing aircraft had been conducted. The vessel functions as a launch platform for autonomous underwater vehicles capable of mapping the deep seabed, a key tool in efforts to locate wreckage in the vast and remote ocean region. The active phase of the renewed search was scheduled to begin on Dec 30. In March, the Malaysian authorities had agreed to allow Ocean Infinity to undertake fresh efforts to locate the MH370 wreckage. However, in April, Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook said the company had paused its operations because of off-season weather and sea conditions. The Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370, a Boeing 777-200, disappeared from radar screens in the early hours of March 8, 2014, while en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing. The aircraft was carrying 227 passengers and 12 crew members. It is widely believed that the plane crashed in the southern Indian Ocean, but despite an extensive three-year multinational search operation funded by several countries, the exact crash site was never identified and no main wreckage was recovered.
