Enroute from Antwerp to Mobile, USA, the "SBI Jaguar" ran onto a sandbank at Perkpolder on the Wester Scheldt on March 28, 2018, at 1.35 a.m. The ship had encountered engine trouble off Hans Weert before. The master tried to slow the ship down by dropping anchor, but with its draft of 10,9 meters it slowly moved on towards the shallwos on the Zeeland side. According to Rijkswaterstaat, there was no danger or nuisance for other ship traffic. It was expected that the bulk carrier would come off between noon and 1 p.m. with the rising tide. The tugs "Multratug 20" (IMO: 9572006) and "Union Emerald" (IMO: 9314296) went on standby in the vicinity. Rijkswaterstaat also sent the patrol boats "RWS 78" and "P 86" for soundings and surveys. In the run of the foremidday also the "Multratug 4", "Multratug 6" and "Multratug 7" as well as the "Union Hawk" and "Union 6" were called in. The bulkcarrier was refloated around 1.30 p.m. and towed to deeper water with 2 knots. The bulker was moored on the Everingen Anchorage at 4.30 p.m. with the "Union Emerald" and the "Multratug 6" still attending and the remaining tugs returning to their berths. The launch "VLB 6" (MMSI: 244650887) went alongside for investigations. Following these, the ship left the anchorage and headed to Rotterdam. It berthed at the Shell Europoort Terminal at 2.30 p.m. and finally left the port of Rotterdam on March 29 at 9 p.m., resuming the voyage to Mobile, ETA Apr 16.
