On Nov 7, 2025, at 1:30 a.m., the ' Byd Jinan', enroute from Antwerp,allided first with the quay wall of the sea lock in Wilhelmshaven and then, while docking, with the wall of the Lüneburg Quay. The collision with the quay wall of the sea lock, while entering the lock, broke away concrete sections of the lock chamber and damaged a stair railing. The port authority estimated the damage at approximately €10,000. However, there were no restrictions on lock operations. The second allision occurred a short time later while docking at the designated berth at the Lüneburg Quay. Here, the stern of the vessel allided with the quayside. Pilots were still on board at this time, and the three assisting tugs were also still present. The damage to the quayside was assessed by the port authority. The cause of the allisions was under investigation by the water police in Wilhelmshaven. The German Social Accident Insurance Institution for the Transport Sector (BG Verkehr) – Ship Safety Department – ​​was involved in the investigation, as the damage to the vessel also needed to be assessed. The administrative authority has imposed a security deposit of €358 on the captain. The vessel was banned from sailing, as further inspections and examinations by the German Social Accident Insurance Institution for the Transport Sector – Ship Safety Department were required. The vehicles carrier had suffered a hole of 2x1 metres in the hull above the waterline. The damage was repaIred by a specialised company at the quay from the evening of Nov 7 to the evening of Nov 8.
