Grounding on the Don
The "Salsk" ran aground on the Don river at km mark 3133.5 between the buoys 187 and 189 on OCt 7, 2018, at 10.10 a.m. in position 47 12 58 N, 039 44 41 E.The vessel with a cargo of 3,959 tonnes of wheat on board had a loss of draught of 15 centimetres. The Rostov based Russian tug "Dobrynya" was sent to assist,but its attempts to refloat the vessel were unsuccessful. A second tug was requested. The tug "Rogda" was sent to assist. The shipowner decided to suspend the refloating operations until Oct 9. At 11 a.m. the vessel was refloated with the assistance of the tug "OT-15042" and anchored in deep water for inspections.
