Little-Girls

On Oct 22, 2025, at 9.30 a.m., the GEO (Grupo Especial de Operaciones), a special unit of the Spanish National Police, stopped the 'Littler Girls', carrying approximately 4,000 kilograms of cocaine, approximately 1,100 kilometers southwest of the Canary Islands. The operation was carried out with the support of the Spanish Navy, as the ship was located well outside of territorial waters. Nine crew members were on board, all of whom were arrested. The vessel featured unusual structural modifications that appeared to have been specifically designed to conceal the drugs. It had departed from the port of Cristóbal on Sep 30 en route to the port of Vigo. On Oct 8, the US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) had informed Spanish authorities that an international organization was planning to transport a large quantity of cocaine across the Atlantic to Spain. Thanks to this information, the Spanish police were able to locate the ship and prepare the operation. The case was handed over to the Special Prosecutor's Office for Drug Crimes (Fiscalía Especial Antidroga de la Audiencia Nacional), which took over the coordination of the operation. Under its leadership, the Policía Nacional succeeded in seizing the entire cargo and bringing the ship to Gran Canaria. The freighter berthed n the port of Arinaga in the municipality of Agüimes, where it is being further examined by investigators. The drugs were seized and weighed by the central drug unit UDYCO (Unidad de Droga y Crimen Organizado). Initially, 6,500 kilograms of cocaine were reported, but after weighing on land, the quantity was revised to be around 4,000 kilograms.
