Ferry arrived at Svendborg Værft two weeks delayed
On Nov 25, Molslinjen's new electric ferry 'Tyrfing', after a long voyage in rough weather from Turkey, has arrived at the Svendborg Værft, where the final adjustments have now been made before the ferry can be deployed on the route between Ballen and Kalundborg 14 days later than planned. As one weather system replaced the other, the ferry could not do much other than seek shelter. This meant, among other things, an unplanned stop in Setúbal, where the ferry had to wait for better weather. The delay meant that the plans to put the 'Tyrfing' into operation on Dec 1 have been postponed. The new plan indicated that the 'Tyrfing' can be expected to be in operation on the route between Ballen and Kalundborg on Dec 15. The delay has just been approved by the Ministry of Transport.
Delivery voyage interrupted due to bad weather
The 'Tyrfing', Samsølinjen's new hybrid ferry, was hit by bad weather on its way from the builder's yard to Danish waters. Headwinds, high waves and bad weather in the Mediterranean accompanied the ship throughout the first part of the voyage, after it set off from Altinova on Oct 23, 2025, and therefore the captain made the decision to dock in Cartagena on Oct 30, which was not a planned port call. The ship remained stationary in port as of Nov 4, waiting for weather improvement.
Ferry enroute to Svendborg with a delay of several months
The 'Tyrfing', the new electric ferry of the Samsølinjen, has left the shipyard in 'Altinova ojn Oct 23, 2025, with a significant delay and set course for Denmark. She is the sister ship to Alslinjen's electric ferry. The approximately 18-day journey to Denmarke is carried out using the ferry's diesel backup engines, as the batteries can only be charged in the specially built charging facilities in Ballen and Kalundborg. The 'Tyrfing' will refuel once - either in Setúbal or Vigo, before continuing towards Denmark, where she will sail emission-free between Samsø and Kalundborg. The ship sail directly to Svendborg, where it will be prepared and approved by the authorities before its first crossing on the Samsø route on Dec 1, 2025. This means that the electric ferry 'Nerthus', which has been inserted for sailing on the Samsø line since the summer, can finally be deployed on the Als line, as originally planned.
