Brand new vehicles carrier allided with lock in Zeebrugge

The 'Jisu Fortune', en route to Casablanca, allided with the Pierre Vandamme Lock in the port of Zeebrugge on Sep 24, 2025. During the departure manoever, the ship was caught by a strong wind gust. Both the ship and the lock were damaged. As a result, ships can no longer enter or leave the inner port for the time being. It was not yet clear how serious the damage was. This was to be investigated in the coming hours and repaired if possible. The passage of about ten vessels was planned for the evening. The vechilces carrier had to remain in Zeebrugge for inspections which were due to take place in the forthcoming days. The inner port of Zeebrugge has been reopened as of Sep 25. At the time of the accident, there were four vessels in the 500-metre-long Pierre Vandamme lock, besides the ‘Jisu Fortune’ the vehicles carrier 'Autostar' and the tugs ‘VB Flandes’ and ‘VB Rumba’ of Boluda Towage Europe. The ‘Jisu Fortune’ was only delivered in May and had arrived in Zeebrugge from Wilhelmshaven on Sep 22. Over the past few days, it has been handled by ICO at quay 509 of the South Dock and then quay 408 of the North Dock. The ro-ro ship was the first own car ship of Chinese car manufacturerGeely, the parent company of the car brands Volvo and Polestar. It left Zeebrugge again on Sep 27 en route to Casablanca, where it arrived on Sep 30.
