Grounding on Mississippi
The 'SBI Hercules' was disabled in the Southwest Pass of the Mississippi on Jan 1, 2020. The vessel was anchored at the edge of the channel and was being assisted by two tugs. The Coastguard has established one-way traffic at river mile 15 below Head of Passes. A VTS measure was in effect restricting inbound/outbound deep draft vessels to 47 feet draft or less, and for one-way traffic and slowest safe speed from MM-14 to MM-16 BHP.
