Allision in Chios
The Port Authority of Chios was informed in the morning hours of Dec 3, 2022, that during the mooring process of the Turkish flagged ferry 'Lesvos' on its scheduled route from the port of Cesme to the port of Chios with 357 passengers on board, at the customs pier of Chios, it allided with the stern of the docked 'Erturk'. Damage was caused to the hulls of both ships. No injuries were reported from the ships, and no marine pollution was observed. The Central Port Authority of Chios prohibited the sailing of both vessels until the presentation of certificates of seaworthiness and class maintenance by the attending classification societies.
