Ferry suffered ramp failure
On Nov 16, 2025, at noon, the Port Authority of Mount Athos was informed by the captain of the 'Panagia Eggyitria' about a malfunction of the ramp during the departure from Arsana Giovanitsas. A patrol boat of the Greek Coast was deployed to the scene to provide assistance. The damage was repaired with own means, and the ship sailed for the port of Ouranoupolis, escorted by the patrol boat, where it safely disembarked 294 passengers, 18 cars and three buses. The 1st Port Department of Ouranoupoli of the Ierissos Port Authority prohibited the sailing of the ferry, until the damage was repaired and a certificate of seaworthiness presented by the monitoring classification society.
