Pilot fell into lock basin in Kiel
The transit of the "BBC Thames" through the Kiel Canal was delayed on Mar 01, 2013. after a pilot fell into the lock in Holtenau around 2 p.m. The ship had entered the lock at 1.47 a.m. The 36 year old man was underway on the middle wall to board when he fell four metres deep onto wooden fenderings. He was recovered by the fire brigade and taken to intensive care in a hospital in Kiel. The "BBC Thames" could continue its voyage from Antwerp to Norrköping around 3.30 p.m.
