Freighter suffered crankshaft failure
The "BBC Norfolk" was being berthed at quay 9 in Malaga since May 15, 2018. The ship had suffered a breakdown of the main engine after having sailed from Ashdod on May 4. The casualty was taken in tow by a tug due to the crankshaft damage. Once in port, the cargo was discharged under supervision of the Gibraltar Strait Surveyoers. General Average has been declared by the owners. The vessel left the port on Aug 2 at 1 p.m. after repairs. Next port of call was Porto Nogaro, ETA Aug 8.
